HIST 151 - Communities of the Ancient World Examines both the development of ideas of community in the ancient world, and the ways in which the writing of histories of ancient communities affects the modern construction of identity. Involves analysis of primary documents from antiquity as well as discussions of the methods used in historical studies. We will focus on the related topics of the developments of civilization in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, and the transmission of ideas in the ancient world.
