ELL 432 - Introduction to English Linguistics for P-12 Teachers Students are introduced to the structure, history and use of English with emphasis on their application to the teaching of P-12 level language learners within the P-12 school system. Includes an outline of basic linguistic aspects of language (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics) and their historical, geographical, and social variation. The theory of English grammar, including parts of speech, syntactic structure, coordination, subordination, and discourse patterns will also be covered.
Prerequisites & Notes: Permission of program director. Credits: 5 Grade Mode: Letter
