Schooling as a major form of socialization and status placement; political and legal bases of education; non-formal schooling; education and nation-state formation.

Prerequisites & Notes: Any one course from: SOC 221, SOC 234, SOC 251, SOC 255, SOC 260, SOC 268 or SOC 269.
