ESCI 423 - Past Environments of the Pacific Northwest Introduction to the concepts of paleoecology techniques used to study ancient environmental and ecosystems and current research. Focus on changes in the northwestern United States during the Holocene. Lecture/lab format. Students will reconstruct past plant assemblages of the Pacific Northwest, examine fire regimes and build tree-ring chronologies using ancient trees.
Prerequisites & Notes: CHEM 121, CHEM 122, CHEM 123; BIOL 204, BIOL 205, BIOL 206; MATH 124.
