ETHN 202 - Introduction to Native American and Indigenous Studies


Introduces students to the historical development of the theories and methodologies of the discipline. Exposes students to the diverse cultural and political groups indigenous to the Americas, each with unique culture, history, and experiences. Students investigate historical and contemporary struggles, concerns and achievements of these nations and the effects of settler colonialism on these populations. Will survey issues such as sovereignty and land stewardship, federal Indian law, and federal policies such as removal, assimilation, and termination.
