Despite the many years I have spent in academia, looking through Western’s catalog always fills me with enthusiasm: the sheer range of courses available and their excellence across all disciplines is a wonderful reminder of what an exciting place Western is to explore the life of the mind.
Although we encourage all Western graduates to be life-long learners, you may never have a better opportunity than you do now to immerse yourself in an innovative and interactive community of knowledge. This is your gateway to engaging with topics ranging from the latest discoveries shaping the world of tomorrow, to the foundations of culture, sciences, mathematics, history and art that defined the world of today. At Western you not only have the chance to learn from some of the country’s finest faculty, you can collaborate with them to contribute your new ideas and challenge our understanding of ourselves and the world.
Beyond our classrooms, Western is recognized as a place where service learning, community engagement and love of the outdoors run deep. Our students know that learning isn’t limited to the classroom, and that the best use of higher education is to put it to higher purposes, whether that’s in the community, or on the slopes of the North Cascades.
