The residential experience is intentionally designed to create affordable, safe and well-maintained University housing that supports participation in healthy, inclusive and sustainable communities, where students invest in their academic success and personal growth. Living on campus is optional, yet about 90 percent of freshmen choose On-Campus Housing. First-year students who meet the housing deadlines are guaranteed housing; returning residents are accommodated on a space available basis. Extensive research demonstrates students living on campus earn higher grades and graduate in higher numbers than students living off campus. Residents must be enrolled in a minimum of eight credits per quarter to live on campus.
