REL 345 - Fierce Goddesses of India An analysis of South Asian goddess traditions, with an emphasis on the frequently misunderstood ‘fierce’ goddesses. Students will engage with these traditions through historical sketches, analysis of art, scriptures, and devotional poetry, and ethnographic studies of contemporary goddess worship. The course is grounded with readings and lectures on feminism and the historical biases which have undercut study and representation of goddess traditions.
